The wait is FINALLY over! NFL preseason is here once again, and everyone in my house is ironing their jerseys, prepping their eye black, and setting the DVR for the first game of the 2017 football season! We’ll be tuning in to the Hall of Fame game tomorrow (Thursday August 3rd) night at 7:00pm (CDT) on NBC to watch the Cowboys take on the Cardinals, and we couldn’t be more excited for football to return! To celebrate the occasion, we’re throwing a moderately sized get together with some of our neighbors with some tasty snacks, drinks, and desserts. Here’s what’s on our kickoff party menu:
Football Cake Balls
Bake both cakes according to the directions on the cake mix package After the cakes have cooled, break the cake into pieces using a fork or your fingers Pour the shredded cake into a bowl, and add the tub of icing mixing well Once the mixture is blended, place in the fridge for 30 minutes Remove the chilled mixture, and pinch off some mixture and roll to form 1 inch balls Place the balls in the fridge for another 30 minutes If you want to cover your cake balls in chocolate, melt a package of chocolate chips (white or semi-sweet) Dip each cake ball in the melted chocolate and place on wax paper in a cookie sheet Add garnishes to each cake ball or sprinkles – preferably football related Place the cake balls in the fridge until it’s time to serve them, then enjoy!
