under the Friday night lights in front of thousands of people. Bare with me, I'm going somewhere with this.
I had the best time dancing at the football games every week, but I had no interest in the actual football game during my freshman year. I had no reason to pay attention to how the "downs" worked or the "plays" or anything because I could just talk to my friends. Well, my sophomore year of high school I didn't get to sit by my friends in the bleachers, so I "had" to watch the football game and had no idea what was going on. So, I enlisted the help of my friend Andrew to help me learn all the rules, the downs, the strategy, and the nuances of the game. Learning something new is a strong suit of mine, so when I learned football, I knew ALL about football. I started watching college football on Saturdays too and then NFL games on Sunday, and I began learning the players and the teams and everything else that went along with the game. I LOVED it. I had so much fun yelling at the TV when the refs would blow a call and talking trash to people who liked certain teams. My friend Andrew taught me about the NFL rules using the New York Giants as the sample team (since that's who he liked), so that's how I became a Giants fan. And not just a fan, of course, but the crazy fan who yells at the TV, gets mad about calls, and proudly wears the team colors (even though she lives in Dallas). My love of the sport of football has made me so many friends (and some enemies haha), but it's always in good fun. I love a good game watching party or just doing work on Sundays and watching three games in a row. My love of football has also melded with my love of medicine too. I have always paid close attention in football games to the injury reports and conditions of the players since I want to go to medical school. "Jordin's turf" has been a punny joke in my house for years regarding my "expertise" about football (the game and the players) and about the physiology and medicine behind the injuries. I am always interested in the progress of injuries of the players and how the NFL physicians go about treating and managing injuries. Because this area encompasses two things I love, I figured naming a blog for this pun about would be fitting. Thus, "Jordin's Turf" is where I talk about things I like and find fun in my areas of "expertise."
